About this CD ROM

This CD ROM has been compiled to support learning and teaching for the QCA History Unit 4: Why do we remember Florence Nightingale?

It has similar section titles to the QCA unit:

1. Who was Florence Nightingale?
2. How did Florence become involved in the Crimean War?
3. Which pictures help us tell her story?
4. What was it like for Florence in the Crimean War?
5. How did Florence make things better?
6. Why do we remember Florence Nightingale?

All the ICT based activities have been developed to enhance understanding and help with the processes of learning and teaching.

Teachers and/or other adults can use the CD ROM as a teaching resource either for a whole class or for small groups. Some sections can be selected and used for individual or small group work with some or no support depending upon children’s ability and aptitude.
