TeachingPoints is an exciting series of curriculum resources specifically designed for schools adopting or following the QCA Schemes of Work. The CD ROMs provide difficult to find material for popular themes in an easy-to-use format which can be used as a teaching resource for either a whole class or small groups. The following titles are currently available (Habitats will be available for BETT 2006) and more are planned.

What Were Seaside Holidays
Like In The Past?

What Were Seaside Holidays Like In The Past?
History Unit 3 - Years 1 and 2

The invaluable resources of the East Anglian Film Archive enable this CD to show the changing face of seaside holidays in and around the popular resort of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk over the last 90 years. Children will find all aspects of the CD both engaging and enjoyable when comparing their own experiences with those of their parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents.

An Island Home

An Island Home
Geography Unit 3 - Year 2

Many schools use the Katie Morag stories to help with this Scheme of Work. This CD takes children to the author's inspiration, the Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides. The TeachingPoints team spent an extensive period recording life on the island, including filming interviews with the local residents. This provides a unique resource which cannot be found without visiting the island.

Art & Design - A Sense of Place

Art & Design - A Sense of Place
Art Unit 6C - Years 5 & 6

This CD ROM closely follows the QCA Scheme of Work for Art and Design Year 5/6 Unit 6C: A Sense of Place. It will allow children to explore the responses of a group of artists asked to work in a very unfamiliar environment to create a sense of place. Each of the four sections include video extracts, sets of questions or tasks, still and/or animated images to enhance learning and understanding.

Habitats

Habitats
Science - Year 4

This CD ROM supports a range of activities in the QCA Science unit: 'Habitats' which investigates different habitats and the plants and animals that live in them. Other areas of investigation include: how to group living things, using keys to identify plants and animals, finding out about food sources and identifying food chains.
